Knowing You’re Meant For More
April 1, 2025

4 a.m. on a school night, my mom would catch me reading in bed. I’ve always been a nerd for a good book. As I’ve gotten older, my tastes have changed from a romance novel to self-help, motivational, personal development, call-it-what-you-want, nonfiction books.
2025 New Year’s Resolution is to get back to who I was when I was younger – a reader, a dreamer, a believer.
The first quarter of 2025 found me with two amazing books in my lap. Now and Not Yet by Ruth Chou Simons and Meant For This by Erica Wernick.
Now and Not Yet hit home with me because Ruth Chou Simons talks about being a mom with big aspirations. Oftentimes, we as parents tend to lose ourselves and our purpose for our lives because our identity becomes so tied to our kids. Simons does an amazing job of showcasing God’s role in all of our plans. He knows where our life is going to take us. We need to have patience. Trusting him is hard, but kids are only home with us for a little bit. Keeping God on the top of our priority list helps to ensure our family stays connected. It also makes it possible to work our goals in around our other responsibilities. Don’t sacrifice who you are. Enjoy the season you are in, but keep dreaming.
Meant For This gives practical steps and builds my confidence up by teaching me that I can accomplish my goals. It isn’t just a pep talk, but rather tells you what to do to be successful. Erica Wernick believes more in the power of the universe and putting good vibes out in the world. My greatest take away was to not be afraid to here the word “no.” Don’t let people put limits on you. It is up to you to decide what you want to do, what you want to be, and what difference you want to make in your life, your family’s life, and this world. Develop your mindset, do the work, and you will see the results.
I’m going to reread these books this summer and will offer more of a synopsis. If you have key takeaways from these books, please add your insight to the comments.
These two books changed my life by inspiring me to start this website. God’s timing is always perfect; take action now.
